Julius I.D. Singara

Julius I.D. Singara is a Partner of the firm. He graduated from the University of Surabaya, Faculty of Law (Sarjana Hukum) in 2002. In 2004, Julius I.D. Singara obtained his Masters degree in Information Technology Law (Diplome d’Etudes Approfondies/D.E.A.) from the Faculty of Law of the University of Montpellier 1, Montpellier, France. In 2005, he received a French Government Scholarship (Bourse du Gouvernement Francais) for 3 years to continue his studies at the post-graduate level. In 2008, he received his Doctorate (Docteur en droit), with the Highest Distinction (tres honorable avec felicitation du jury) in Information Technology Law from the Graduate School of Law and Political Science of University of Montpellier 1.

At LSM Law Firm, he is actively involved in cases and projects in the corporate and commercial practice group including employment matter. He also has extensive experience in handling commercial and criminal litigation and maritime disputes.

At LSM Law Firm, he is actively involved in cases and projects in the corporate and commercial practice group including employment matter. He and his team also provides advice that help Clients take action in compliance with the relevant Indonesian laws and regulations. In this area, he has represented and led the firm’s legal team assist Clients such as PT. Krakatau Osaka Steel and PT. Krakatau Semen Indonesia in negotiating and drafting construction contracts, providing legal advice to foreign direct investment companies such as Airbus Group, thyssenKrupp Group, GlaxoSmithKline, Boardriders (Quiksilver) etc).

He also has extensive experience in handling commercial and criminal litigation and maritime disputes. In regard to white-collar crimes, he and his team represented Equanimity (Cayman) Ltd. in the Indonesian Court in 2018 and successfully blocked U.S. Department of Justice actions to take control of the vessel M/Y Equanimity for allegedly being connected to the 1MDB financial scandal. In 2019, he successfully defended a Client who was arrested on an extradition request from the U.S. government.

In maritime area, he and his maritime legal team have experience in acting for ship owners in breach-of-contract disputes as well as vessel seizure, e.g. in 2018, he and his team represented TMF Trustee Limited (mortgagee) and successfully took control of vessel M/T Megacore Honami in Indonesian waters.

Julius I.D. Singara is a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI).

He speaks Bahasa Indonesia, French, and English.
